VA BEACH, VA – Christopher Newport's volleyball finished its regular season schedule by sweeping Salisbury and VA Wesleyan in a tri-match at VA Wesleyan Friday afternoon.
CNU defeated Salisbury by scores of 30-15, 30-27 and 30-24. The Captains played the Sea Gulls twice and won both meetings.
Allie Wolfe led the way with 10 kills and 12 digs. Liz Bush finished with nine kills and Ellen Koch added eight.
Brittany Collins posted 34 assists, four aces and 21 digs. Christie Kirby contributed 12 digs.
Against VA Wesleyan, Christopher Newport won by scores of 30-20, 30-22, and 30-23.
Meghan Puckli had a phenomenal match, finishing with 11 kills on 12 attempts for a .917 hitting percentage and four block assists. Wolfe finished with 11 kills and 14 digs and Koch had 10 kills.
Collins finished with 39 assists, three aces and nine digs. Kirby and Mary Horner each finished with 12 digs.
The Captains conclude the regular season 29-6 overall. CNU returns to action Tuesday when they begin play in the USA South Tournament. At 5 pm, #8 Meredith will play #9 Peace at 5 pm with the winner taking on Christopher Newport at 7:30 pm. With a win on Tuesday, CNU will host the Final Four beginning Friday at 5:30 pm.
