FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Senior Kylie Schaefer won twice on Saturday to play her way into the ITA Southeast Regional Championship Quarterfinals and the Captains had two doubles tandems advance to the Round of 16 in the Championship Draw on the second day of action in Fredericksburg. 

Schaefer started her day with a second-round victory against Brianna Stewart (Mary Washington) by a final score of 6-2, 6-3. She then advanced into the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win against Sahana Sanjeev from Johns Hopkins. With the 3-0 start to the regionals, Schaefer is set up for a final eight appeaarance on Sunday against #2 seed Shelly Zinchenko. 

Three other Captains competed in the championship singles draw on Saturday with Kendal Chang picking up a Round of 32 win. Chang advanced with a walkover win against Carmen Valentino. She then battled against #5-seed Claire Loftus before falling in a 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 match against the Johns Hopkins foe. 

The other singles matchups saw Samantha Robertson compete in the Blue 1 bracket and Nathalie Lanne earn a 6-4, 6-1 win against her Mary Washington opponent, Madeleine Holman, in the Blue 2 bracket. 

In doubles, the Captains had a spectacular day with Sophia Dadley and Scarlett Gamez picking up a pair of wins in the Blue bracket to advance to the semifinals. In the Champioship draw, Emma Carver and Lindsey Bergelin paired up for a thrilling 8-7 (7-5) win against #5-seed Ancele Dolensek and Bella Nichilo. Anna Bong and Kendal Chang also earned an 8-5 victory against Paola Almeda and Ella Strickler. 

In the consolation bracket, Lindsey Bergelin captured an 8-6 win over Haverford's Mallika Reddy. 

Christopher Newport will return to action on Sunday in the ITA Southeast Regionals.
