TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Christopher Newport women's tennis team was recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team following the 2025-26 season as six Captains also hauled in ITA Scholar-Athlete certificates. 

Including three-time selection Samantha Robertson, CNU women's tennis also had repeat picks in Kendal Chang and Eva Taylor. Rounding out the group this year was Nathalie Lanne, Kylie Schaefer, and Erin Gross. 

In 2026, 1,309 Division III women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes and 177 programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. 

To earn ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, honorees must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year and be included on the institutional eligibility form. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale), and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. 

This year, Chang and Robertson were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections. Additionally, all six ITA Scholar Athletes were were named as C2C All-Academic picks for securing a term GPA of 3.2 or higher in 2025-26. 

The ITA is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at NCAA Division I, II and II, NAIA and Junior/Community College. The ITA administers a comprehensive awards and rankings program for men's and women's varsity players, coaches and teams in all divisions, providing recognition for their accomplishments on and off the court.
