FRISCO, Texas -- A pair of Christopher Newport women's golfers repeated as WGCA All-American Scholars while a record three players earned the recognition in 2025-26. Senior
Julia Pelletier, a three-time selection, was joined by sophomore
Taylor Davis as a repeat pick with her second certificate. Newcomer
Gabi McGehee rounded out the group of selections to earn the prestigious academic honor as released by the Women's Golf Coaches Association on Monday.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of women's golfers around the country. To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher, participate through the conclusion of the team's season, and play in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Davis, McGehee, and Pelletier were three of 1,551 women's collegiate golfers recognized with the prestigious honor in 2025-26. Davis joins an elite list of just Pelletier, Shreya Ganta, and Katie Thome as multiple-time recipients of the All-American Scholar designation.
Pelletier capped her illustrious career as a student-athlete with Academic All-District plaudits in the At-Large category from the College Sports Communicators. She became only the second CNU women's golfer to earn the recognition, with Ganta. Carrying a near-perfect grade-point average, Pelletier graduated with a degree in Management.
On the course, the Gatineau, Quebec native posted one of the best single-season efforts in program history. Shattering her previous bests in nearly every statistical category, the veteran led the team with a 78.8 scoring average while participating in all 22 rounds during her final season. That mark ranks as the ninth-best single season scoring average in program history. She would go on to collect first team All-Conference plaudits in the inaugural season of the Colonial Women's Golf Conference and moved up to eighth all-time at CNU with an 82.0 career scoring average.
Davis continued to add to her strong start as a Captain after collecting second team All-CWGC honors. Davis set the program scoring record for a single round and for a 36-hole tournament with a three-under 70 at the Savannah Invitational to finish out a one-under 145 (75-70). The tournament performance broke the record for a two-round event by two strokes. She also etched her name in the record book with the third-finest single season performance by a sophomore with an 80.4 average. In the classroom, Davis continued her trek toward degrees in American Studies with a Constitutional Concentration and Spanish.
Adding her name to the elite academic performers in CNU lore, rookie
Gabi McGehee impressed on and off the course in her first year. An honorable mention All-Conference performer, McGehee finished fourth on the squad with an 80.2 stroke average while playing in 17 rounds. She finished with four top-20 performances including three in the top ten and two top-five finishes. The rookie signed for a pair of rounds at par or better including a season-best one-under 72 at the Transylvania Kickoff Classic in her second career appearance.
The Captains rounded out a successful season under head coach Oda Kilsti with a record-breaking team performance. Christopher Newport finished the year with a scoring average of 315.9, ranking second in program history.
