SALISBURY, Md. -- Wrapping up the regular season this weekend, the 21st-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will travel to No. 4 Salisbury for a Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference showdown beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium.
Entering the contest, CNU sits at 12-4 on the season, including 4-3 on the road. Meanwhile, Salisbury is 15-0 with a 7-0 mark at home.

Saturday's battle will determine the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference regular season champion. Coming into the weekend, both squads are undefeated in league action and are guaranteed at least one home game in the upcoming conference tournament. The playoffs begin with semifinal action on April 29.
Christopher Newport locked up a top-two seed in the league tournament after knocking off Mary Washington, 11-9, in the regular season home finale on April 18. Trailing 8-5 with less than 20 minutes remaining in regulation, the Captains overcame their deficit while scoring six of the game's final seven goals to grab the come-from-behind victory.
Headlining the comeback,
Faith O'Connor posted four goals, including the final two tallies in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile,
Hadley Chadwick starred on the other side of the field as the senior matched her season-high with 11 saves. For those efforts, the two stars swept the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards.
In addition to the decorated duo,
Elena Sorkin posted her 60th goal of the year, becoming just the sixth player in program history to hit that benchmark. She also contributed her 12th consecutive multi-goal eruption, which is just one game shy of tying the longest run by a Captain. CNU Hall of Famer Ashton Marshall set the standard with a 13-game roll in 2013, while O'Connor and former legend Syd Guidi have equaled that streak in recent years.
While Sorkin hit the 60-goal mark last Saturday, O'Connor is currently three strikes shy of that plateau. CNU has never had two players reach that benchmark in the same season. Meanwhile, there are only three teams in the nation that boast a pair of 60-goal scorers this year.
Among other approaching milestones,
Brookelyn Morrison is just three draw controls shy of reaching 100 for the season. She would become only the fourth Captain to hit the century mark in a single campaign, joining CNU Hall of Famer Meaghan Galvin (2017) and former legends Sam Wettengel (2021) and Emma Jackson (2022).
Along with Morrison, Chadwick is four saves shy of reaching 100 for the third time in her career. She would join Kaitlyn Ready, Gayle Robinson, and Hanna Slough as the only Captains to hit the mark in three separate seasons. Meanwhile, Chadwick's next ground ball would be the 104th of her career, moving her past Ready for the most by a goalie in school history.
Along with top-ranked Middlebury, Salisbury enters Saturday as one of the nation's last two undefeated teams. The Sea Gulls have also won 11 straight home games dating back to last season, which stands as the fourth-longest active streak in the nation.
So far this season, Salisbury ranks second in the country in clearing percentage (.917), eighth in free-position percentage (.590), and 24th in scoring defense (7.13 goals-against-average). The team is also averaging 15.00 goals per game, which is 32nd on the NCAA charts. On an individual level, Audrey Harrington leads the squad with 65 points, including 30 assists, while Regan McDonnell has 51 draws, 20 takeaways, and 30 points.
In 31 previous meetings between the two programs, Salisbury holds a 31-0 edge in the series, including a 13-9 win in the league championship last spring. During that bout, O'Connor had a pair of goals for the Captains, while McDonnell landed a hat-trick for the Sea Gulls.
