Four Captains Receive Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Accolades

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Four members of the Christopher Newport University men's basketball team received honors Wednesday afternoon from the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference. Juniors Toa Hollenbeck and Tyson Henderson were named first team All-Conference, and senior Collin Hines and junior Ethan Ward were selected to the second team.

Hollenbeck, from Chesapeake, Va., leads the Captains in scoring at 18.5 points per game, and went over the 1,000-point mark for his career this season. He scored a career-high 43 points in CNU's home victory over the University of Mary Washington on February 4th, and was named the C2C's Player of the Week four times this season. He is presently 24th on CNU's all-time scoring list with 1,194 career points in 83 games played. It's the third consecutive first team honor for Hollenbeck, who was also honored by the C2C as the Rookie of the Year in 2023-2024.

Henderson, a native of Lancaster, Va., is averaging 11.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest, and tops the squad in assists with 105 (an average of 4.4 per game).  It's the first post-season conference honor for the Captains floor leader.

Hines is being recognized by the C2C for the second straight season as a second-team All-Conference performer. The Norfolk product is the lone senior on CNU's roster, and is averaging 9.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Hines is coming off a career-high 20-rebound performance vs. Salisbury on Senior Night Saturday at the Freeman Center. He also scored 12 points for his fourth double-double of the season. Hines is the lone remaining Captain from CNU's National Championship team in 2022-2023, his freshman season, and has also contributed 87 assists, 35 steals, and 27 blocked shots while playing in and starting all 24 games.

Ward, from Virginia Beach, receives his first C2C award after posting an average of 8.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this year for the Captains. CNU's big man has led the team in rebounding in nine games, and has blocked 24 shots while knocking down 54 percent of his shots. He registered a season-high 18 points on Saturday in CNU's win over Salisbury.

Christopher Newport is ranked tenth in the nation in the latest weekly poll from D3hoops.com, and John Krikorian's squad has a record of 20-4 heading into post-season play. CNU finished the regular season on Saturday with a 79-47 victory over Salisbury at the Freeman Center.
