MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. -- Wrapping up the fall portion of the 2026-27 season at the 54-hole Golfweek Fall Invitational, the Christopher Newport men's golf team is tied for 21st out of 25 teams. Jacob Foti (+4) is tied for 27th after the first 36 holes including a one-under 70 in Monday's second round. 

The conditions included cold temperatures and high wind gusts at the challenging Raven Golf Club which played at 6,760 yards on the Par 71 track. The Captains fared much better on day two by shaving 17 strokes off the opening round score of 316. CNU fired a 299 on day two after all five starters finished with rounds at 80 or better. 

Leading the charge is junior Jacob Foti with a 146 (76-70) through the first two rounds. He is ahead of Patrick O'Rourke (+10) by six strokes after the sophomore finished day two with a 152 (77-75). The remaining three Captains are within five strokes of each other as Fischer Leggitt (+16), J.P. Carr (+17), and Nathan Smith (+21) rounded out the overall scoring. 

Foti dropped in four birdies including three on the back nine while adding 11 pars in his second round. For the two rounds combined, Foti has six total birdies and 22 total pars in 36 holes of action. 

O'Rourke had four birdies in Sunday's opening round and added one more in the second round on Monday. He dropped in a three on the 320-yard par for 15th, which Foti and Leggitt also birdied, and wrapped up the second day with a team-high 12 pars. 

Leggitt started strong with a two-under turn after nine holes, picking up birdie on his first hole, a 379-yard par four at No. 10, and another on the 320-yard par four at No. 15. His third birdie came on the lengthy 587-yard par five 3rd hole to get the sophomore back under par after 12 holes of action. 

The Captains will close out the three-round tournament on Tuesday before returning home to Newport News having finished the final tournament of the fall season. Live scoring is available online with the link found on the men's golf schedule at CNUsports.com.
