NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Due to the impact of this weekend's winter storm, the scheduled women's basketball game at Johnson & Wales (N.C.) has been canceled and will not be made up. Head coach Bill Broderick made the anouncement on Thursday evening with the additional note that CNU will now host Virginia University of Lynchburg on February 17 at 6:00 p.m. 

The schedule change affords Christopher Newport an opportunity to maintain a 25-game schedule in 2025-26 while adding a 12th home contest to the season's slate. CNU is 7-1 at the Freeman Center this season. 

The game against Virginia University of Lynchburg will be the first against the Dragons in program history. VUL competes as members of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

With this weekend's matchup against the Wildcats in North Carolina canceled, the Captains will return to action at home on Wednesday, January 28 with their next game. CNU will host Southern Virginia University (12-4) at 6:00 p.m. at the Freeman Center.
