TEMPE, Ariz. -- Following another standout season in 2024-25, the Christopher Newport women's tennis team continued to add accolades to the stalwart year as the Captains were recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team. Headlining the selection overall were four ITA Scholar-Athletes including repeat picks
Samantha Robertson and
Raine Weis.
In 2025, 1,269 Division III women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 165 programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. Joining Robertson and Weis were junior
Eva Taylor and rookie
Kendal Chang as Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Women's Scholar Athletes.
To earn ITA Scholar Athlete recognition, honorees must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year and be included on the institutional eligibility form. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale), and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
This year, Robertson and Weis wer named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections while Weis was also selected as the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's tennis. Additionally, the four ITA Scholar Athletes were joined by
Nathalie Lanne and
Kylie Schaefer as C2C All-Academic picks for securing a term GPA of 3.2 or higher in 2024-25.
The ITA is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at NCAA Division I, II and II, NAIA and Junior/Community College. The ITA administers a comprehensive awards and rankings program for men's and women's varsity players, coaches and teams in all divisions, providing recognition for their accomplishments on and off the court.
