Kendal Chang and Samantha Robertson Haul in CSC Academic All-District Plaudits for CNU Women's Tennis

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's tennis team was well represented on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams as a pair of Captains were recognized by the organization on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore Kendal Chang and junior Samantha Robertson earned the prestigious honor to showcase the student-athlete success on and off the course for the CNU squad.

Robertson collects her second career Academic All-District certificate while Chang hauls in the first of her young career. Robertson joins an exclusive group of just two CNU women's tennis players to earn multiple Academic All-District certificates including three-time pick Raine Weis. Chang becomes just the sixth Captain to garner the esteemed accolade including Ashley Alston, her older sister Kiersten Chang, Tessa Trate (2023), Weis and Robertson.

Robertson has a 4.00 cumulative GPA while majoring in Biology while Chang closed out her second year with a stellar GPA while majoring in Business. Honorees must be at least a sophomore with a 3.50 cumulative GPA while also participating in at least 75 percent of her team's matches.

This year, Chang was recognized as a first team All-Conference selection in both singles and doubles while leading the Captains at No. 1 in both disciplines throughout the year. Chang is an NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Doubles Championship qualifier with partner Kylie Schaefer and will appear in the postseason event at the end of May.

In just her second season, Chang is a four-time All-conference pick with a first team singles and second team doubles certificate last year while adding the two first team plaudits in 2026. This year, Chang led the Captains with 15 singles wins.

Robertson collected second team All-Conference honors in singles play after earning seven victories between No. 3 and 4 in duals this season. Robertson helped lift the Captains to a third straight conference championship with nine wins and the Captains are ranked No. 30 nationally in the most recent ITA rankings.
