Live Stats // Video Stream

GALLOWAY, N.J. --
The fourth-ranked Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will conclude the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Captains travel to Stockton for a Coastal Lacrosse Conference match-up at the Stockton Turf Field.

CNU enters the contest with a 14-2 record, including a 3-1 mark in league action. On the other side, Stockton is 8-8 overall and 1-3 against conference foes. Both teams have already locked up their position in the upcoming league playoffs as the Captains earned the No. 2 seed, while the Ospreys secured the No. 5 spot.

For those fans unable to attend Saturday's game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at StocktonAthletics.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport is coming off of a 22-8 victory over Mary Washington on Saturday. Against the Eagles, Kevin Miller established a new single-season school record for assists after notching six helpers during the contest, which bumped his total to 58. That eclipsed the previous standard of 54, which was set by former All-American Coby Auslander in 2023.

Equally effective on the offensive end, Jamie Smith drove home six goals, while Joey Fantinato, Brett Jackson, John Santoro, and Logan Shassian all had two strikes apiece. Meanwhile, Warner Cabaniss won 10 of his 11 faceoffs while moving to 14th in NCAA history with his 1,028th career triumph.

Inching up the program's all-time single-season charts, Smith now ranks fifth in school history with 59 goals this year, while his 11 man-up strikes are two shy of matching Jackon's record set in 2023. Additionally, Miller is seventh in program lore with 85 points. The second-year star has also recorded at least one point in 32 consecutive games dating back to last year, which stands as the seventh-longest scoring streak by a Captain.

Stockton is coming off of a 12-10 setback against Vassar on Wednesday. That was the 81st career appearance for defenseman Jared Long, which stands as the 12th-most by any active player in the nation. A two-time All-Conference performer, he currently ranks third on the team with 10 caused turnovers while also securing 15 ground balls.

On the offensive side, Jack Vandegrift leads the Ospreys with 33 points, including seven man-up goals. As a team, Stockton is 34th in the nation in man-up percentage with a .411 conversion rate. Robbie O'Brien also has six power-play strikes and 24 total tallies, while Connor Albrecht and Gage Parker have 30 points apiece.

In three previous match-ups between the two programs, Christopher Newport holds a 3-0 edge in the series. Last year, the Captains posted a pair of wins, including a 19-12 triumph in the league semifinals. During that contest, Jackson and Miller both had four goals for the victors, while Albrecht had six for Stockton.

After Saturday's action, CNU will open the Coastal Lacrosse Conference playoffs at home with a semifinal showdown on April 30. The opponent and game time will be determined later this month.
