NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
For the third time in March, the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will face a top-25 test as the Captains welcome No. 21 Denison to Jennings Family Stadium for a non-conference clash on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Entering the weekend, CNU sits at 5-7 on the season, including 1-4 at home. Meanwhile, Denison is 5-3 with a 4-2 mark on the road.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport is coming off of a back-and-forth 12-11 setback at Washington (Md.) on Wednesday. During the contest, there were three lead-changes and five ties before the Shorewomen escaped with the victory. Battling until the bitter end, Drew Stanley and Maelyn Eversole both scored in the final 90 seconds of regulation, but the hosts survived CNU's comeback bid.

Along with the late-game heroes, Elena Sorkin registered her third hat-trick since March 15, while Eversole, Grace Taylor, and Brookelyn Morrison had two tallies apiece. Morrison also added her 100th career ground ball during the contest, making her the 23rd Captain to reach that benchmark.

Rounding out her afternoon, Morrison snatched four draw controls against the Shorewomen, including her 50th of the season. Coupled with her work during the past two years, she became just the third player in program history with at least three 50-draw campaigns. In that exclusive club, she joined former teammate Syd Guidi and CNU Hall of Famer Meaghan Galvin.

On the defensive end, Hadley Chadwick posted her second double-digit save effort of the season after turning away 10 on-target shots against Washington (Md.). During the course of that contest, she also registered her 300th career save, becoming the sixth player to reach that plateau.

Chadwick currently stands fifth in school history with 308 total stops, while her 93 saves this year rank 10th on the national charts.

Saturday's showdown will be CNU's third nationally-ranked match-up of the year after earlier tests against No. 2 Tufts and No. 4 Gettysburg. Starring against top-flight competition, Kate Lamendola has scored a team-high three goals against top-25 opponents this season, while Madi Rozgonyi has eight draw controls, four ground balls, and three takeaways in those bouts.

Denison has also been well tested this year with an 11-2 win over No. 22 Chicago and a 16-6 setback at No. 9 Gettysburg. On Sunday, the Big Red also dropped a 13-11 decision to Mary Washington, who broke into the national rankings after that triumph.

So far this season, Denison has been led by Julianne Henigan, who ranks 33rd nationally with a .520 save percentage. The team has also controlled 59 percent of its draws this season, which ranks 42nd on the NCAA leaderboard. Taking advantage of the extra possessions, Anna DeVuono leads the way with 25 goals, while Bridget Sheehy has 13 assists.

Saturday's game will be the third meeting between the two programs with both squads posting a victory in the series. Last year, the Big Red captured an 11-7 win in Ohio. Morrison had two goals and three caused turnovers during that contest, while Henigan made 11 saves for Denison.

After this week, CNU will return to the road with a trip to No. 17 Roanoke for a 2 p.m. tilt on April 5.
