ASHLAND, Va. --
Wrapping up a three-game road swing, the 16th-ranked Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will travel to Randolph-Macon on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for a non-conference showdown at Day Field.

Entering the midweek match-up, CNU sits at 2-0 on the season, while Randolph-Macon is 2-1 overall and 1-1 at home.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at RMCAthletics.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

With Wednesday's contest, the 2025 Captains will become the first team in program history to open a season with three straight road games. Despite the early travels, Christopher Newport has gotten off to an impressive start with back-to-back triumphs at Lynchburg and St. Mary's (Md.).

In their most recent contest, the Captains overcame a two-goal deficit in the fourth quarter to snatch an 11-9 win over the Seahawks in Maryland. Anchoring a well-balanced attack, Kate Lamendola, Elena Sorkin, Grace Taylor, and Faith O'Connor scored the final four goals of the contest to complete the come-from-behind victory.

Taylor finished the game with three points in her first appearance with the Captains, while O'Connor added her second straight four-point eruption. Lamendola, Maelyn Eversole, and Drew Stanley also had multiple tallies for the victors.

Along with the offensive heroics, Christopher Newport forced 13 turnovers against St. Mary's. Lamendola and Brookelyn Morrison had four strips apiece, while Maddie Rusinko added a pair of takeaways. Meanwhile, in the crease, Hadley Chadwick came through with seven saves, including a huge stop on a potential game-tying strike with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

Coupled with her work in the team's 13-4 win at Lynchburg in the opener, Chadwick became the first CNU goalie in four years to hold the opposition to fewer than 10 goals in back-to-back road games. Overall, she currently ranks 28th in the NCAA in goals-against-average with a 6.50 rate.

In addition to Chadwick's work, Lamendola is eighth in the NCAA in takeaways-per-game with a 5.00 average. Additionally Morrison is 25th with a 4.00 rate. In her career, the junior juggernaut now has 85 caused turnovers, which places her five shy of matching former All-American Emma Jackson's school record of 90 set from 2021-24.

Randolph-Macon enters the game after knocking off McDaniel, 15-5, on Saturday. Lilly Fowler led the Yellow Jackets with six points, including five assists. Additionally, Cami McNealy contributed four goals, while Gillian Gladden secured eight saves to go along with a takeaway and two ground balls.

So far this season, Gladden ranks in the top-50 nationally in both save percentage (.500) and goals-against-average (8.67). On the opposite end, Caty Benton leads the team with 11 points, including seven in the opener against Hood on February 15. Amanda Maxwell also leads the squad with eight draw controls in addition to three caused turnovers and two points.

In 20 previous meetings between the two programs, Christopher Newport holds a 13-7 edge in the series. Last year, the Captains posted a 14-9 triumph in Newport News. Morrison led the way with seven takeaways and five draws, while Carys May also had two strips for the victors.

After wrapping up their road trip, the Captains will kick off their home slate on Saturday when they host Shenandoah at 4 p.m.
