NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Having opened the 2025-26 season with eight straight games away from home, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team will host Marymount University (2-3) in the Freeman Center on Tuesday night. The home opener against the Saints will tip at 6:00 p.m. as Christopher Newport looks to extend a four-game winning streak and enters the contest with a 6-2 overall record.
The doors will open one hour prior to tip; chairback seats are $10 apiece and general admission tickets are $5. Tickets can be
purchased online here or at the CNU Athletic Ticket Office window at the Freeman Center. Current CNU students are admitted free to all home basketball games with valid ID. For fans unable to attend in person, live stats and a live video webcast is available online free of charge. The Freeman Center will welcome back former point guard
Gabbi San Diego as she is now an assistant coach for Marymount University after graduating last Spring. San Diego works under second-year head coach Claire Mattox who has guided the Saints to a pair of wins in the last three games.
Marymount has a slight advantage in the all-time series, 22-21, as the two teams will be matching up for the 44th time. Christopher Newport has won four in a row dating back to the 2021-22 season including a 66-49 win on the road last season.

Bill Broderick. It will be the latest home opener since 1993-94 when the Captains played their first game at Ratcliffe Gymnasium on December 11.
On Monday, sophomore forward
Sarah Pritz was named the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after helping lead CNU to a pair of road wins. Pritz became the sixth different player in eight games to lead the Captains in scoring when she scored a team-high 15 points on Sunday at Shenandoah. She joins sophomore
Madison McKenzie as Captains who have earned C2C Player of the Week recognition this year. McKenzie leads the team in scoring averaging 12.3 points per game heading into Tuesday's matchup.
Marymount has been led by Kaylah Barr with 18.0 points per game this season while Catie Kolwey is averaging a double-double with a team-high 10.2 rebounds per game paired with 10.6 points per contest. Barr has been getting to the line, averaging 8.0 free-throw attempts per game.
Following the Tuesday home game, the Captains will hit the road again for three straight games. CNU will start with a trip to North Carolina Wesleyan on Thursday, December 4 before an exhibition game at the United States Naval Academy on Sunday, December 14. The three-game swing will conclude at Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday, December 16.
