ATLANTA, Ga. -- For the fourth year in a row, the Christopher Newport women's basketball team earned a special mention in the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll after another exceptional campaign on and off the court. Released by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Tuesday, CNU was recognized among Division III programs that earned at least a 3.0 combined GPA after the 2025-26 academic year.
As a team, the Captains combined for a 3.563 team GPA among the women's basketball rostered players. Headlining that group of impressive academic performances were three-time Academic All-Conference selections
Elizabeth Creed,
Caitlin Crump,
Jessica Dornak, and
McKenna Snively leading a strong assembly of 13 CNU players to garner Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference All-Academic plaudits.
Additionally, four Captains earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators as repeat selections
Elizabeth Creed and
Hailey Kellogg were joined by Crump and Dornak with the prestigious honor in 2025-26.
All players who were on the official team roster at the start of the second semester must be included in computing the team GPA. First and second semester hours are included, weighted on a 4.0 grade-point scale.
On the court, Christopher Newport finished the year ranked No. 16 in the WBCA Coaches Poll and No. 25 in the D3hoops.com national poll with a 24-5 overall record. The Captains extended a ten-year postseason appearance streak under head coach
Bill Broderick and captured a seventh consecutive conference championship. CNU led the nation in bench scoring (36.7 ppg) and were among the highest-scoring offenses in the nation with 74.5 points per game ranking 16th in Division III. Additionally, the Captains stout defense continued to frustrate opponents with 14.9 steals per game, ranking 10th in the country, and 26.52 turnovers forced per game ranking eighth.
