NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Carrying a ten-game unbeaten streak, the third-ranked Christopher Newport women's soccer team will return to Captains Field on Saturday night and will host the University of Mary Washington (7-2-1) at 7:00 p.m. CNU is 8-0-2 to start the year coming off a 3-0 win at Marymount on Wednesday night.

Christopher Newport owns a 19-5-2 overall record against Mary Washington including seven straight wins heading into Saturday's tilt. The Captains are 8-4-1 all-time against the Eagles at home including four straight unbeaten matchups dating back to 2019.
The CNU defense has been dominant in 2025, allowing just three goals in the first ten games of the season to rank 15th in NCAA Division III women's soccer. Led by junior goalkeeper

Kyleigh Gough lead the team in game-winning goals with two apiece while
Alex Devers and
Katy Bronski have also added one apiece.
Mary Washington will counter the Captains with a hot start of their own, posting a 7-2-1 overall record through the first ten games. The Eagles are coming off a 2-0 setback at nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins, marking the first time they have ben blanked this year. In fact, the offense has scored multiple goals in six games this season including in six of the team's seven wins.
Emily Box and Layla Royster lead Mary Washington with four goals while Box has added two assists for a team-leading 10 points. Katie Britton has eight points with two goals and four assists while Maci Landel is chipping in a team-high five assists. Defensively, the Eagles have surrendered seven goals in ten games for a 0.70 goals-against average. Emily Om (0.96 GAA) and Kate Ronzoni (0.00 GAA) have combined in net for the Eagles.
