On day one, senior
Elena Rezac (+4) led the way for the Captains and she is just one stroke off the lead set by Victoria Jolakian (York (Pa.)). Rezac is in sole possession of second place and leads a two-way tie for third by three strokes heading into the second round. On Tuesday, Rezac recorded par on nine of the last ten holes played and 13 of the last 15. She opened the day with bogeys on two of the first three before righting the ship and pouring in par after par.
Not far behind,
Alex Delgado (+8) is in fifth place after leading the team in birdies on day one. She sank a four on the 555-yard par five 2nd hole and added another birdie on the 373-yard par four 10th. On top of her two under par holes, Delgado added eight pars to finish the day with an 80 (39-41).
Ayla Browning (+10) and
Katie Watson (+10) both came into the clubhouse with 82's on day one and are currently tied for eighth. Watson added one birdie after a terrific tee shot on 17 got her close and she made the putt on the 160-yard par three. She scored nine pars to finish out the day 42-40. Browning had to recover from a tough second hole and was four-over early, but the rookie showed tremendous poise by bouncing back and finishing the round with 12 pars on the day. She rallied for the second-best back nine of the day for CNU and signed the card with a 43-39.
Hannah Willman rounded out the Captains performance with five more pars. She had an outstanding run to start the back nine by dropping in par putts on four the first five holes on the back.
