JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- The Christopher Newport women's golf team finished 18th out of 24 teams at the Jekyll Island Collegiate at Great Dunes this weekend with a 980 (326-329-325). The Captains finished +116 while being led by senior Julia Pelletier (+22) with a top-50 finish amidst the talented field. 

The Captains notched their best round of the weekend on Sunday with a 37-over 325. The 54-hole finish finds its way into the top-ten all-time at CNU, sliding in at #10 in both total score and relative to par. 

Pelletier wrapped up the three-day event with an eight-over 80 on Sunday and moved to 44th on the individual leaderboard. She was 22-over with a 238 (80-78-80) and shaved 18 strokes off her previous 54-hole personal best. In Sunday's final round, Pelletier had ten pars and finished strong with a birdie four on the 431-yard par five 8th hole. 

In fact, all five CNU players birdied the final hole of the day on Sunday. Rookie Maddie Cameron carded the best score of the day on Sunday with a seven-over 79 including the birdie on No. 8. She also birdied the 246-yard par four 16th and sank nine par putts in the round. Cameron finished 53rd overall with a 24-over 240 (80-81-79). 

Rounding out the team scoring on Sunday was Sara McCaskill and Taylor Davis, chipping in matching 83's. Katie Watson also dropped in an 86 on Sunday for the Captains. 

Christopher Newport will return to action on March 30-31 at the Max and Susan Stith Invitational in Richmond, Va.
