CNU Senior Haley Eiser Recognized as Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Following three shutouts in goal for the Captains, Christopher Newport senior Haley Eiser was named Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday morning. Eiser led the undefeated Captains to a 3-0-0 performance, all away from home.

With the veteran netminder between the pipes, Christopher Newport secured 1-0 victories at Randolph-Macon and UC Santa Cruz before adding a 3-0 win against Cal Lutheran in a neutral site matchup. She made six saves and played all 270 minutes in goal for the Captains.

Along the way, Eiser continued her trek up the all-time leaderboard in Christopher Newport history and now ranks second all-time in career wins (39) and third in career shutouts (22). She ranks in the top ten among active Division III players in shutout percentage over her career with a 0.408 mark.

She is currently riding a shutout streak of over 377 minutes, closing in on her person record of 518:08 set over five games in 2019. In Saturday's matchup against Cal Lutheran, Eiser made a spectacular save to keep the Regals off the board and carry her shutout streak into this week's action.

She ranks ninth nationally in goals-against average with a 0.17 mark this season having allowed just one goal with 14 saves and a 6-0-0 record. The fifth-year senior earned her fourth career player of the week recognition from the conference office.

Eiser and the rest of the CNU women's soccer team will return to action this Thursday, September 30 as they host Sewanee at 2:30 pm.
