NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport and Salisbury renew their softball rivalry on Saturday, as the 11th-ranked Captains travel to Maryland to take on the eighth-ranked Sea Gulls. The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader at Sea Gull Softball Stadium is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
No visiting fans will be allowed on the Salisbury campus as per their attendance policy for the spring season. The games will be streamed live on the internet

Keith Parr's squad has an overall record of 22-8 on the season, while Salisbury has a mark of 17-5 to date. Both squads are 2-0 in the C2C. The Captains are fresh off two wins on Wednesday at home over Randolph-Macon, while the Sea Gulls last played on Sunday, splitting a twin bill at Lynchburg.
The teams met twice earlier this year at Captains Park in non-conference play, and split two high-scoring games. Salisbury notched a 16-11 victory on Saturday, March 6th. The Captains then posted a 6-5 triumph on Sunday, March 7th. The Sea Gulls are 12-0 when playing at home this season, and just 5-5 away from Sea Gull Stadium.

Gracie Vallejos have both reached double-digit win totals. Weatherholtz is 11-2 and Vallejos is 10-4 entering Saturday's play. Vallejos has now struck out 107 batters in 96 innings of work, and is the first CNU pitcher since 2012 to go over the 100 strikeout mark in a season.
