NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport softball team is off to a 7-3 start, and two Captains received two conference honors on Monday. In addition, head coach
Keith Parr announced a schedule change.
Junior
Kaitlyn Hasty was selected the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week, and sophomore
Gracie Vallejos was named the league's Pitcher of the Week. Hasty is currently hitting .400 with two home runs and nine runs batted in. She also has a .622 on base percentage and .700 slugging percentage through the first ten games. Vallejos has recorded a 4-1 record with a 1.60 earned run average in five starts and six total appearances. Vallejos has struck out 37 in 35 innings of work and walked just 11.

Parr also announced the Captains will be playing a home doubleheader both Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Tuesday, the Captains will entertain Averett University in a previously scheduled twin bill. Wednesday, Christopher Newport will now host North Carolina Wesleyan for a doubleheader that had been scheduled for April 2nd.
Game times for both Tuesday and Wednesday at Captains Park are 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Cougars of Averett are 0-4, while the Bishops of NCWC are 3-1 heading into play against the Captains.
