HOT SPRINGS, Va. -- Senior
Shreya Ganta (+4) is tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard after the first round of the Generals Invite, helping lead the Captains to a seventh place showing on Monday afternoon. The Captains shot a 324 after the first 18 holes for a 40-over par start, trailing the leaders by 27 strokes.
Ganta poured in 11 pars and added a pair of birdies for her team-leading 75 at The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va. The team was playing at The Cascades, one of the finest mountain courses in the nation.
Scoring the second lowest round of the day for the Captains was rookie
Alex Delgado (+7) with a 78. She is tied for 18th.
Lauren Sims (+14),
Elena Rezac (+15), and
Cameron Marshall (+25) rounded out the CNU scoring on day one.
The hosts from Washington & Lee (+13) led the opening round in the 11-team field. Christopher Newport will tee off starting at 9:29 am.
