Alex Delgado led the way for the women's golf team at the Golfweek DIII Fall Invite. The rookie is tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard while the Captains are tied for 11th as a team.
CNU signed for a 317 and sits just seven strokes back of Carnegie Mellon in third place. The Captains are only 22 back of tournament leading Centre College (+7) on the tightly-packed leaderboard.
Delgado (+3) kept her scorecard clean throughout the first 18 holes with a tournament-high 14 pars. She also added one birdie in her final hole of the day, a 302-yard Par 4 that helped her head back into the clubhouse with an Even par 36 on the back nine.
The CNU freshman is the fourth rookie in program history to score a 75 or better during her first campaign. She joins
Katie Thome and All-Americans
Erica Whitehouse and
Shreya Ganta in program lore with the sixth lowest round by a freshman in program history.
Lauren Sims (+8),
Shreya Ganta (+9), and
Elena Rezac (+9) each finished in the top-50. Sims dropped in ten pars and one birdie and sits tied for 41st. She notched a four on the 418-yard Par 5 15th hole. Ganta scored a team-best two birdies, closing her day on a strong run with a one-under spurt over the last six holes. Rezac was two-over on the front nine with seven pars and added four more even holes on the back.
