FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's tennis team wrapped up it's performance at the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships on Sunday after picking up three singles wins and one doubles victory in consolation play. 

The Captains had three players in action in the consolation bracket of the championship singles draw and all three picked up one win. The most impressive performance came from Olivia Reed as the senior faced a pair of seeded opponents on the second day. First, reed handed sixth-seeded Christina Harris from Lynchburg an 8-4 win before suffering an 8-2 setback to ninth-seeded Becket Waters out of Washington & Lee. 

Also in the singles playback, Christopher Newport junior Kara Ferner and sophomore Ana Clara Borga each picked up victories. Ferner dropped Courtney Ollis (Carnegie Mellon), 8-5, and Borga added a win over Jordan Schaefer (Salisbury), 8-1. 

Lucy Davis earned a win by withdrawal in her first consolation match in the B draw before suffering a loss in her second match of the day. 

In doubles play Borga and Reagan Delp paired for a consolation victory over Dagney Markle and Dana Saliyev from Wilkes College, 8-1. 

Christopher Newport will return to action to close out the fall season at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on October 5-6.
