FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's tennis team competed on the first day of the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday and picked up three wins in singles play and two wins in doubles action.
In the championship draw of singles, three Christopher Newport players advanced to the Round of 32 with a first-round victory on Saturday.
Reagan Delp picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Franklin & Marshall's Clara March,
Amanda Yermal defeated Washington & Lee's Anna Kreynin, 6-1, 6-1, and fourth-seeded
Johanna Ranta-aho defeated Swarthmore's Sonia Varma, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles play, Yermal paired with
Olivia Reed to pick up an 8-4 win over a Franklin & Marshall pairing while Ranta-aho matched up with
Kara Ferner for an 8-0 blanking of a Haverford tandem.
The Christopher Newport contingent will continue play in the consolation brackets on Sunday.
