Sarah Culver and Julia Golden to Represent CNU Women’s Lacrosse in IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

GRAND LAKE, Colo. -- Sarah Culver and Julia Golden have been selected to represent the Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game, which will be held on June 1 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.

Culver and Golden will compete on the North Team alongside fellow Capital Athletic Conference standouts Nicole Clauter and Abby Smith of York (Pa.). Meanwhile, Salisbury and Mary Washington will both have a pair of representatives on the South Squad. Overall, 22 players were selected to the North Team, which will be led by head coach Courtney Shute of Tufts.

For those fans planning to attend the game, admission will be free of charge, and the Division III tilt will be followed by the Division I and Division II contests. The action will also be broadcast live at IWLCA-tv.com.

The 2019 All-Star Game will mark the first time that two Captains are taking part in the prestigious competition. Christopher Newport has had one representative in each of the last three games along with single competitors in 2007 and 2011.

Culver wrapped up her career as one of the most lethal offensive threats in program history. During her senior campaign, she ranked third in the conference with 59 goals, which also marked the sixth-highest single-season total in program history. Along the way, she deposited 10 hat-tricks during the year, including a seven-goal eruption against Shenandoah. That equaled the fourth-highest single-game total ever registered by a Captain.

Guided by her efforts in 2019, Culver concluded her career ranked third in CNU lore with 211 goals. The three-time All-Region selection also finished her stint ranked sixth in program history with 240 career points and 127 draw controls.

Anchoring Christopher Newport's midfield unit, Golden starred in all facets of the game during her senior season. She ranked third in the Capital with 85 draw controls, including 11 at St. Mary's (Md.) on April 27. That equaled the fourth-highest single-game total in CNU history. She also became the first Captain to register at least 30 goals and 30 caused turnovers in a single season after finishing with 36 and 30, respectively.

Scattering her name throughout the history books, Golden finished her career ranked fourth in caused turnovers (66) and fifth in draw controls (146). The two-time All-Region honoree also appeared in 73 career contests, marking the ninth-highest total by a Captain.
