CNU is coming off of a 15-11 victory against Mary Washington on Saturday. During the game,
Jackson Deal led the Captains with five points and three assists, while
Dylan Rice added four goals. With his performance against the Eagles, Rice bumped his season total to 53 points. He joins Matt Crist and Will Geise as the only players in program history with a pair of 50-point campaigns.
On the other side of the field,
Scott McAneney matched his career-high with 19 saves. That also equaled the third-highest single-game total in program history. Meanwhile,
Phoenix Hines caused five turnovers against Mary Washington, which moved him past teammate
Max Wayne for the conference-lead with 47 this season. Wayne, who also caused a turnover against the Eagles, now has 45.
Along with Hines and Wayne, McAneney stands atop the conference with 184 saves. Meanwhile, on the offensive side, Rice is third in goals (40) and fifth in points (53).
Lucas Barry is also third in shooting percentage among players with at least 20 goals after converting at a .484 clip so far this season.
Salisbury enters the game coming off back-to-back lopsided victories to kick off conference play. The Sea Gulls opened the league campaign with a 15-3 victory over Mary Washington on March 30 before toppling Frostburg State, 21-6, on Saturday.
SU enters Wednesday ranked first in the nation in scoring defense, limiting opponents to just 5.92 goals per game. Equally impressive on the offensive side, the Sea Gulls are averaging 16.42 goals per contest, which places them 14th in the NCAA. On an individual level, Brandon Warren is sixth in the country with a 6.28 goals-against-average, while Corey Gwin leads the nation with 12 man-up goals. Brett Malamphy is also 16th in the NCAA with a .685 faceoff percentage.
In seven previous meetings between the two programs, Salisbury holds a 6-1 edge in the series. The Sea Gulls posted three wins over CNU last year, including a 12-11 triumph in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
