FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The Capital Athletic Conference named Christopher Newport sophomore Natalie Terwilliger the Women's Basketball Player of the Week after the Captains went 3-0 in non-conference action last week. Terwilliger led the team in scoring and rebounding in the three victories as Christopher Newport improved to 4-1 overall. 

The sophomore forward scored in double figures in two of the three games and averaged 14.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She narrowly missed a pair of double-doubles against North Carolina Wesleyan College and in a neutral site bout against Washington & Lee. 

Terwilliger started the week off with a season-high 18-point performance with nine rebounds against N.C. Wesleyan. She added two blocked shots against the Bishops in a non-conference win. Then, in the Laura Mapp Classic hosted by Bridgewater College, the sophomore from Alexandria, Va. opened the weekend with a 15-point, 8-rebound effort against Washington & Lee while knocking down five of her eight attempts from the field. Then, in just 13 minutes of play against the host Eagles, Terwilliger finished with nine points and six boards with another blocked shot. 

For the week, Terwilliger finished with five blocked shots, one steal, and 23 rebounds. She scored 42 points while shooting 51.7% from the field including five triples on 71.4% from beyond the arc. 

She is the first Captain to garner the weekly recognition this season and it is the second time in her career she was named CAC Player of the Week. 

Christopher Newport improved to 4-1 with the strong performance this week. The Captains will travel to William Peace University on Wednesday, November 20 for a 6:00 p.m. tip against the Pacers.
