DOVER, Del. -- The 16th-ranked Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Captains travel to Wesley for a Capital Athletic Conference showdown at Miller Stadium.
Entering the weekend, CNU stands at 12-3 overall and 5-2 in league action. The squad is currently in sole possession of third place in the CAC standings. Meanwhile, Wesley is 3-11 with a 1-6 mark against conference foes.
For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at

Saturday's game will end a week-long layoff for the Captains, who were last in action on April 14 when the squad dropped a 15-11 decision to No. 2 York (Pa.). During that game, CNU held a 9-8 lead with seconds remaining in the third quarter, but the Spartans responded with five straight goals to pull away for the win.
On an individual level,
Will Stockhausen posted four points against YCP, while
Matthew Crist contributed a hat-trick.
Dylan Rice also established a new single-season program record for goals by a freshman after sinking his 39th of the year. Additionally,
Drew Cornell collected five ground balls and scored a 75-yard goal while facing a 10-man ride, which was named one of the CAC's Plays of the Week.
Overall this season, Rice is tied for the league-lead with 39 goals, while Crist is second with 64 points. Starring all across the field,
Max Wayne is seventh with 23 caused turnovers, and
Tony Cruz is first with 193 faceoff victories and second with 90 ground balls.
Scott McAneney ranks third in the CAC with an 8.29 goals-against-average as well.
On the other side of the field, Wesley enters the weekend on a two-game skid, including a 12-5 setback at St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday. After falling behind early, the Wolverines responded by scoring the final four goals of the game. Overall, Josh Wassum finished with a team-high four points, while Zach Farnell also added two tallies. Defensively, Dylan Sicca notched 11 saves and surrendered just three goals in 30 minutes of work.
So far this year, Wassum leads the Wolverines and sits 11th in the league with 40 points. On the defensive end, Nolan Vesey is second in the conference with 32 caused turnovers, and Zach Darnell is ninth with 22. Leading the way at the 'X,' Matt Widderkind has won 58 of his 214 faceoff attempts.
In four previous meetings between the two programs, CNU holds a perfect 4-0 record. Last year, the Captains picked up a 19-4 win in Newport News.
After this weekend's action, the CAC Tournament will kick off with first-round play next Saturday. The top-two seeds in the playoffs will earn byes, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will host opening-round action.
