NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
Looking to continue its winning ways, the 18th-ranked Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will host Frostburg State in a Capital Athletic Conference battle at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Captains Turf Field.

Riding a program-best eight-game winning streak, CNU currently sits at 8-0 overall, including 5-0 at home. The squad has won 15 straight home games dating back to 2016, which stands as the third-longest active run in the NCAA. Meanwhile, Frostburg State comes to town with a 4-4 record and a 1-3 ledger on the road.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats will be available at CNUsports.com. The Captains will also provide a broadcast of the action with Andy McGregor and Jake Myers on the call. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the CNU schedule page.

Christopher Newport was last in action on Wednesday when the squad traveled to Virginia Wesleyan and posted a 19-7 victory. During the game, Glenn Doering came through with his first collegiate hat-trick, while Shane McKenna and Dylan Rice also added three points apiece. Additionally, Matthew Crist became the third player in program history to collect 100 career goals. He reached that milestone faster than any other Captain after accomplishing the feat in his 53rd game.

Crist is also on the cusp of more history as the senior sits just five points shy of matching Will Geise's career record of 185.

On a national level, Christopher Newport ranks sixth in the NCAA with a .545 man-up percentage after converting 18 of the program's 33 extra-man opportunities this year. The Captains also sit eighth in shooting percentage (.367), 10th in ground balls (308), 11th in assists (70), and 16th in goals-per-game (15.25). Meanwhile, Crist is 17th in the country with five man-up goals.

In a much-anticipated match-up, CNU's high-powered man-up unit will square off with one of the country's top man-down defenses on Saturday. Frostburg State comes into the weekend ranked 19th in the country with an .850 man-down percentage. FSU opponents have only converted three of their 20 man-up opportunities so far this season.

On an individual level, two Bobcats rank among the national leaders in a pair of offensive statistics. Paul Ruppert ranks second in the NCAA with eight man-up goals this year, while Jason Clinton is second in the country with a .600 shooting percentage. The sophomore has converted 15 of his 27 shots into goals this year. Meanwhile, Adam Gross leads FSU with 25 points, while Matt Pagliaro sports a .594 faceoff percentage. Jack Marks headlines the defense with a .500 save percentage and a 9.35 goals-against-average.

Saturday's match-up marks the sixth meeting between Frostburg State and Christopher Newport. So far, the Bobcats hold a 4-1 edge in the series, including a 6-5 win in Maryland last year. During that game, Gross scored three goals for FSU, while Crist had three points for the Captains.

Following this weekend's game, CNU will return to action on March 28 for a road test at No. 10 Roanoke. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
