LEXINGTON, Va. -- Kicking off the spring schedule with a bang, the 12th-ranked Washington & Lee Generals will host the 26th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains in a showdown of ranked teams in the region. The Captains (2-1) will take the courts at 1:00 pm against the Generals (2-0).
Washington & Lee has played two matches on Saturday, shutting out Roanoke and Virginia Wesleyan in conference bouts and improve to 2-0 overall. CNU will be playing in it's first action of the spring after opening the year 1-1 with two duals in the fall.
The Generals feature a nationally-ranked duo in doubles play as Michelle Fleenor and Lauren Hassell are ranked No. 16 in the nation. The Captains also have one player ranked in singles as sophomore
Johanna Ranta-aho was pegged the 49th-best individual in Division III.

McKinney Harwood are 1-1 on the top two lines to start the year for the Captains in dual play. Ranta-aho also added a 3-1 effort in tournament action as she played in the ITA South Southeast Regional Championships in the fall, as well. In doubles,
Kate Huck played with Ranta-aho for a 1-1 start and
Emily Morgan and
Isabelle Wessel also went 1-1 in the fall.
