FROSTBURG, Md. -- The 24th-ranked Christopher Newport women's tennis team blitzed by the Frostburg State Bobcats on Sunday morning, picking up a 9-0 shutout victory in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Captains improved to 11-5 overall with a 5-1 record in conference play, while FSU falls to 6-9, 1-4 this season.
CNU raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles action, as the Captains won all three bouts convincingly. Rookie

Kate Huck earned a shutout at No. 1 doubles, downing Kate Paylor and Kennedy Logsdon (8-0). The other two tandem matches finished in 8-1 final scores, as senior

Claire Dockrill joined sophomore
Lily Schreiber at No. 3 for the win.
In singles play, four Captains finished with flawless 6-0, 6-0 wins, including Ranta-aho and Harwood on the top two lines. Ranta-aho defeated Paylor at No. 1 and Harwood handled Logsdon at No. 2.
Dockrill and Carlson were the other 6-0, 6-0 winners for the Captains. Dockrill rolled past Emma Seibert on the fourth line and the CNU senior, Carlson, won at No. 6 over Jessi Smith.
Finally, Huck (6-0, 6-1) and Schreiber (6-1, 6-0) also earned wins for CNU in singles play.
Christopher Newport will close out CAC action on Tuesday, April 11 at Salisbury University with a 3:30 pm start time against the Sea Gulls.
