NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The top-seeded and unbeaten Christopher Newport women's soccer team held their spot at No. 8 in the nation in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25 ahead of Wednesday night's Capital Athletic Conference Semifinal matchup. The Captains (16-0-1) will host #4-seed St. Mary's (Md.) at 7:30 pm with a spot in the CAC Championship on the line.
Ticket prices for the CAC Semifinal matchup at Captains Field are $5 for adults and $3 for students/children, cash only. CNU students will be admitted free of charge with a valid ID.

Christopher Newport finished off the regular season with an unbeaten record for the first time in program history. CNU will carry its longest unbeaten streak, at 17 games, into Wednesday night's postseason matchup. Against the league this season, the Captains were particularly dominant, going 9-0-0 with a 37-2 advantage in total goals scored.
The Captains' defense has been stellar this season, allowing just 10 goals in 17 games played. Senior goalkeeper

Offensively, rookie Riley Cook leads the league with 32 total points in one of the most impressive freshman seasons in league history. Cook alsoo leads the league in goals scored, with 14, while tied for fourth with four assists. CNU also boasts the league leader in assists as sophomore
Carson Pokorny has 11 helpers in her second year.
St. Mary's (Md.) comes into the contest with a 6-8-4 overall record with three straight wins, including a 3-0 shutout in the CAC Tournament First Round. Rookie Emmey German leads the team with 6 goals and 1 assist for 13 points while fellow freshman Alex Moody has 12 points on 5 goals and two assists.
Following the CAC Semifinal matchup, the winning team will advance to Saturday's CAC Championship against the victor of the #2 Frostburg State / #3 Salisbury matchup on Wednesday.
