CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Christopher Newport women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss at the University of Chicago (5-2-0) on Sunday afternoon, dropping their second straight game on the road trip. The Captains fall to 5-2-1 this season, while the Maroons improve to 5-2-0.

The Captains trailed early in the game, 1-0, but bounced back minutes later with the sixth goal of the year by junior scoring leader Victoria Perry. Unfortunately, the home team took control from there, scoring one more in the first half and two in the second to run away with the win.

Perry's sixth goal of the year was set up by senior midfielder Lindsay Mondloch, who grabbed her team-high third assist of the year. The tally came in the 17th minute, answering a score by Kelsey Moore to put the Maroons on top in the 12th minute.

The University of Chicago offense took 16 shots in the first half, testing CNU's junior goalkeeper Haley Casanova time and time again. Casanova finished the game with seven saves, making six stops in the first half.

The game-winning goal came with less than two minutes to go in the first half when Kaitlin Price scored her third goal of the year off assists from Mia Calamari and Mary Bittner. Price would add an assist on a later goal to lead the offense for the Maroons.

Christopher Newport is back in action next weekend, hosting Frostburg State University in the Capital Athletic Conference opener. CNU takes on the Bobcats Saturday, September 26 at 4:30 pm.
