NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will wrap up its regular season home slate on Saturday at 4 p.m. when CNU hosts Marymount in a Capital Athletic Conference tilt at Captains Turf Field.
Christopher Newport comes into the game at 7-6 overall and 3-2 in league action. Marymount currently sits at 4-8 with a 2-3 mark in the CAC. Overall, Saturday's contest marks the seventh all-time meeting between the two programs. CNU currently holds a 4-2 lead in the series, including a 16-5 triumph last year.

Prior to Saturday's game, Christopher Newport will hold its annual Senior Day festivities. This year, the Captains will celebrate the career achievements of
Caitlin Osbourne, who is the lone fourth-year member of the team. In her career, the Ashburn, Virginia native has appeared in 55 games while making 30 starts. This year, she has started all 13 games while helping anchor the back line with 15 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.
Helping out on the defensive side of the ball, junior
Hanna Slough has compiled a .429 save percentage and a 10.56 goals-against-average.
Kirsten Mendelsohn also leads the team with 15 caused turnovers, while
Tess D'Arcy and
Mariah Ginebra have each forced 14 apiece.
On the offensive end, Christopher Newport is averaging 13.20 goals-per-game and leads the conference with 24 free-position strikes.
Meaghan Galvin has paced the attack and ranks second in the league with 35 goals and 52 points.
Kylie Chaplin is also fifth in the CAC with 18 assists, and
Catie Chess ranks first among freshmen and sixth among all players with 31 goals.
Marymount comes into the weekend on a two-game roll, including a 15-8 victory over Wesley on Wednesday. Against the Wolverines, Abby Wescott led the team with six points, including four goals. Taylor Johnson also scored four times for the Saints. Overall this season, Wescott leads MU with 41 points and 18 assists. Tylar Abrams has paced the team defensively with a .430 save percentage and a 10.58 goals-against-average, while Kelly Smigen has 15 caused turnovers.
Following Saturday's contest, the Captains will hit the road on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. battle at Southern Virginia.
