NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will host Wesley on Senior Day in a Capital Athletic Conference battle on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Captains Turf Field.
CNU comes into the weekend with an 8-4 record, including a 3-2 mark in league action. Wesley sits at 5-6 overall and 0-5 in the CAC. Saturday's game is just the second all-time meeting between the two programs after the Captains registered a 16-8 victory over the Wolverines in Dover, Delaware last year.

The Captains enter the weekend following a 16-3 setback to No. 11 Salisbury on Wednesday. During the contest,
Will Geise,
Dave Magdeburger, and
Alex Barber all scored for CNU, while
Matt Hayden contributed 13 saves.
Brandon Moloney also forced a pair of turnovers against the Sea Gulls.
Inching towards the end of the regular season, Christopher Newport currently ranks first in the CAC with a 15.00 goals-per-game average and a .352 shooting percentage. The team also leads the conference with 29 man-up goals and sits eighth in the NCAA with a .468 conversion rate on extra-man opportunities.
On an individual level,
John Thompson stands fourth in the league with 31 goals, while Geise is sixth with 18 assists. On the defensive end, Hayden has accumulated a .527 save percentage and a 9.71 goals-against-average. Moloney also leads the squad with 13 caused turnovers, and
Michael Mabry sits second with eight. On faceoffs,
Tony Cruz has won 62 percent of his battles.
Wesley comes into the contest on a four-game skid, including a 13-6 setback at York on Wednesday. Against the Spartans, Joe Fingles came through with a pair of goals, and Josh Dean added 12 saves. Overall this season, Dean ranks second in the conference with 136 stops and fourth with a .538 save percentage. Jack Redefer has paced the offense with 33 points, while Jack O'Neill has won 132 of his 248 faceoff attempts.
Following Saturday's game, Christopher Newport will wrap up its regular season home slate on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. showdown against St. Mary's.
