FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will take on Frostburg State in a crucial Capital Athletic Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon when the Captains head to Bobcat Stadium for a 1 p.m. showdown.
CNU enters the contest with a 6-2 record, including a 1-0 mark in CAC action. Frostburg State is one of the nation's last remaining undefeated teams as the Bobcats are a perfect 10-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Saturday's game marks the third all-time meeting between CNU and FSU. Currently, the Bobcats boast a 2-0 record in the series, including a 7-6 triumph in Newport News last year.

Christopher Newport enters the weekend having won four of its previous five outings, including a 17-6 triumph in the squad's CAC opener last Saturday against Marymount. During that contest,
John Thompson erupted for a career-high six goals, while
Alex Barber,
Will Geise, and
Joey Rolando all posted hat-tricks.
Casey Cook also dished out three assists during the game.
Matt Hayden contributed nine saves on the defensive end as well.
Overall, Thompson is tied for the league-lead with 25 goals this season, while
Dave Magdeburger sits second with 15 assists. Thompson is also sixth in the conference with 27 points, and Geise is tied for 12th with 24. As a team, CNU leads the CAC and ranks among the top-10 nationally with a 15.75 goals-per-game average.
Defensively, the Captains have limited opponents to 7.88 goals per contest, which ranks third in the conference. Hayden has helped lead the way as he ranks third in the CAC with a .585 save percentage.
Brandon Moloney and
Michael Mabry have also combined to force 14 turnovers this season, while
Tony Cruz has won 60 percent of his faceoffs.
Frostburg State is an equally balanced team as the Bobcats rank second in the league with a 14.30 goals-per-game average and have limited the opposition to a miniscule 5.40 goals per contest. On an individual level, Nick Stailey is tied with Thompson for the conference-lead with 25 goals, while Devin Colegrove has a CAC-high 27 assists and 48 points. Tom Kraemer also boasts a stellar .626 save percentage, and Erik Geiser has won 73 percent of his faceoffs, including a 13-for-14 performance against Saint Vincent in his last appearance.
Following Saturday's game, Christopher Newport will remain on the road for a 7 p.m. battle at Mary Washington on April 1.
