With the win, the Captains (8-3, 1-0) finish out their six-match road trip with a 4-2 record.
CNU got things off on the right foot in doubles, winning all three matches while dropping just three games.
Katie Carlson and
Kate Huck shut out Elizabeth Fuchs and Lindee Christensen at the top line, 8-0, and
Alexandra Drye played with
McKinney Harwood for an 8-1 win at No. 2 over Rachel Christensen and Micah Roberts. Rounding out the doubles wins was
Logan Eldridge and
Meili Konell, taking down Kari Stollenwerk and Ann Kuroki by a final score of 8-2.Â
Moving into singles play with a 3-0 lead, the Captains quickly clinched the win with shutout wins at No. 1 and No. 5. Harwood won 6-0, 6-0 against Fuchs at the No. 1 spot, while Huck captured her win by the same score against Stollenwerk at No. 4.Â
Eldridge dropped just a single game at No. 4, taking down Roberts by a final score of 6-0, 6-1. With the win in hand, Drye dropped Lindee Christensen at No. 2 (6-2, 6-0), Carlson handled Rachel Christensen at No. 3 (6-1, 6-3) and
Isabelle Wessel stepped in for a win over Kuroki at No. 6 (6-0, 6-2).Â
The match kicks off a run of four straight conference matches for the Captains, who will return to action on Sunday to take on Frostburg State University at 10:00 am.Â
