CNU Women’s Lacrosse Welcomes McDaniel to Town for a 3 p.m. Clash on Thursday

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
The Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will look to extend its two-game roll on Thursday when CNU hosts McDaniel in a non-conference clash at 3 p.m. at Captains Turf Field.

CNU enters the match-up with a 4-3 record. McDaniel comes in at 4-2. Thursday's battle will mark the first-ever meeting between the Captains and Green Terror.

Last week, Christopher Newport swept both of its games while out-scoring the opposition, 38-5. Meaghan Galvin led the squad with back-to-back hat-tricks and was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week. Erin Callahan also contributed four goals and four assists, while Kylie Chaplin, Catie Chess, and Carly Wilson combined for 10 goals in the Capital Athletic Conference opener against Wesley on Saturday.

Entering Thursday's action, the Captains rank seventh in the NCAA with 142 points this season. On an individual level, Chaplin has paced the team with 28 points and 13 assists. She ranks in the top-20 nationally in both categories. Galvin also sits in the top-30 in points and assists and leads the CAC with 30 draw controls.

On the defensive end, Hanna Slough has compiled a .455 save percentage and an 8.46 goals-against-average. Her 46 total saves also rank 36th nationally. Additionally, Lindsay Weaver, Mariah Ginebra, and Kirsten Mendelsohn have all forced nine turnovers apiece, while Caitlin Osbourne has caused eight and collected a team-high 15 ground balls.

Equally potent on the offensive end, McDaniel currently ranks fourth in the nation with 149 points this season. The squad's 16.33 goals-per-game average also sits 23rd in the NCAA. Leading the way, Danielle Entrot has 22 goals and 14 assists. Samantha Barbeito also has 28 points, while Maggie Quinn has contributed 14 goals as well. On the defensive end, Lily Galzerano has a .492 save percentage and a 10.33 goals-against-average, while Quinn has caused nine turnovers and collected 28 draw controls.

Following Thursday's action, Christopher Newport will head to St. Mary's for a CAC bout on Saturday at 1 p.m.
