Captains Head to Southern Virginia for a Men's Lacrosse Showdown on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

BUENA VISTA, Va. --
Looking to snap the squad's two-game skid, the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will kick off the final week of the regular season with a 7 p.m. battle against Southern Virginia on Wednesday at the SVU Fields.
 
After dropping their last two decisions, the Captains stand at 9-4 overall with a 3-3 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference. Southern Virginia enters Wednesday with an 0-14 record.

In their last outing, the Captains fell to St. Mary's, 10-9. Against the defending CAC Champions, John Thompson came through with four points, while Brooks Billings and Chris Young also scored twice. Billy Crist continued to be a fantastic facilitator, dishing out two assists to help balance out the attack.
 
So far this season, Billings has a team-high 28 points, while Aaron Chrzaszcz leads the way with 22 goals. Thompson, Adam Abbate, Randy Foster, and Joey Rolando all have at least 13 goals as well. Abbate also has a team-best 12 assists.
 
On the defensive end, Matt Hayden has a .529 save percentage and 111 saves, including 14 against the Seahawks on Saturday. Brenden Dwyer has also forced 26 turnovers, while Teddy Pekalski has 23 to go along with 37 ground balls. Abbate, Brandon Moloney, and Steven West have all forced double-digit turnovers as well.
 
Southern Virginia has been led by Nash Wilkey, who has a team-high 20 points and 16 goals. Mike Bangerter has also scored nine times and dished out five assists. On the defensive end, Ibrahim Kargbo has forced 16 turnovers and scooped up 22 ground balls, while Tyler Cox has a .406 save percentage and a 20.57 goals-against-average.
