BUENA VISTA, Va. -- Looking to snap the squad's two-game skid, the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will kick off the final week of the regular season with a 7 p.m. battle against Southern Virginia on Wednesday at the SVU Fields.

After dropping their last two decisions, the Captains stand at 9-4 overall with a 3-3 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference. Southern Virginia enters Wednesday with an 0-14 record.

In their last outing, the Captains fell to St. Mary's, 10-9. Against the defending CAC Champions,
John Thompson came through with four points, while
Brooks Billings and
Chris Young also scored twice.
Billy Crist continued to be a fantastic facilitator, dishing out two assists to help balance out the attack.

Southern Virginia has been led by Nash Wilkey, who has a team-high 20 points and 16 goals. Mike Bangerter has also scored nine times and dished out five assists. On the defensive end, Ibrahim Kargbo has forced 16 turnovers and scooped up 22 ground balls, while Tyler Cox has a .406 save percentage and a 20.57 goals-against-average.
