SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Rookies Logan Eldridge and Katie Carlson continued their strong individual seasons, but the Captains (5-9) women's tennis team would suffer a 7-2 decision on the road at Swarthmore College (2-6). The Garnet were ranked No. 10 in the Atlantic South regional rankings released earlier this week. 

Eldridge picked up her team-leading 11th singles win of the year, taking down Swarthmore's Katie Samuelson in the No. 2 position. Eldridge won the match 6-2, 6-0, getting CNU on the board against the Garnet.  

Then, after Swarthmore clinched the match, Carlson faced Gayatri Iyengar in an eight-game pro set. She surrendered just a pair, winning her head-to-head matchup, 8-2. Carlson earned her ninth dual victory at the No. 4 position this season, and picks up her tenth win of the season. 

CNU was swept in doubles action, but Eldridge paired with Jackie Gaine for a solid appearance in the No.  2 doubles match, falling 9-7 to Samuelson and Brooke Wilkins. Senior Jodi Noland and Carlson won five games at the No. 1 doubles spot, and Brook Byrd paired with Kelsey Clark at No. 3, falling in a final score of 8-3. 

Christopher Newport will round out the three-game road trip to Pennsylvania on Sunday, as they travel to Franklin & Marshall College for a 10:00 am match.
