HAVERFORD, Pa. -- In their first of three matches in Pennsylvania this weekend, the Christopher Newport women's tennis team suffered a 5-1 setback at Haverford College. The Captains fall to 5-8 this season, while the Fords improve to 5-2. 

Rookie Katie Carlson earned the lone win for CNU, defeating Kate Donches in the No. 4 singles match; 6-1, 6-2. It was Carlson's team-leading eighth win of the season, as she improved to 8-3 at No. 4. 

Senior Kelsey Clark was leading her opponent at No. 5 singles, up 4-0, but the match was shortened when the Fords clinched the fifth and deciding point

Christopher Newport will return to the courts on Saturday, traveling to Swarthmore College for a 2:00 pm match with the Garnet.
