On Saturday, the Captains extended their winning streak to six games with an impressive 16-8 triumph over Wesley. The victory was the first for CNU in league action. Aaron Chrzaszcz led the way with four goals, including three straight early in the first quarter. Freshmen Brooks Billings and Randy Foster also scored three times each, while Adam Abbate and Gregory Limon combined for six assists.

Overall this year, Chrzaszcz leads Christopher Newport with 17 goals and is tied with Billings for the team-lead with 20 points. Five other Captains have at least 10 points, including Limon, who boasts nine assists. Billy Crist has also dished out eight helpers to round out a well-balanced attack.

In addition to Billings and Foster, CNU has also received outstanding contributions from other first-year players. Nick Kirschke is among the league-leaders with a .586 faceoff percentage, while Matt Hayden has chipped in with an 8.82 goals-against-average and a .529 save percentage. Ryan Mills has also come on strong, notching at least one point in each of his last four appearances, including a goal in three straight.

Along with Hayden, the defense has been suffocating throughout the year. Brenden Dwyer has forced a team-best 15 turnovers, while Teddy Pekalski and Steven West have caused 13 apiece. Abbate has been active along the midfield as well, creating 10 turnovers while scooping up 26 ground balls.

Fielding a men's lacrosse team for the first time in 2014, Methodist has been led by Chris Lombardi in its inaugural season. Currently, the freshman attacker has 16 goals and 21 points. Matt Layden ranks second on the squad with 19 points, including 10 assists, while Trevor Dickinson has scored 10 times for the Monarchs.

On the defensive end, Carl Leibrandt and Travis Rice have split time between the pipes. Overall, the two have combined for a .444 save percentage and a 9.91 goals-against-average. Daniel Richards has also forced a team-high 14 turnovers, while Hayden Barzditis has won 32 of his 57 faceoffs.
