SALISBURY, Md. – Playing in their third game in five days, the 13

th straight win, dropping Salisbury University (12-8, 7-4) by 16 points, 68-52. The Captains improved to 18-2 overall this season and 10-1 in Capital Athletic Conference action.
A pair of 34-point halves saw CNU score more than enough as the defense again posted a strong effort in league play. While only forcing 19 turnovers, the Captains defense in the half court was exceptional Wednesday night, holding the Sea Gulls to just 20 made baskets in 72 attempts. Salisbury hit for just 27.9% from the field, while knocking down just 3-of-14 three-point attempts for 21.4% in the game.
Offensively, the spark came from senior
Tia Perry as she slashed to the basket all night long. At halftime, Perry had just five points, but after the break, the senior exploded for 17 more to finish with a game-high 22 points. The Captains scored 42 points in the paint, with Perry chipping in 16 from close range, outscoring Salisbury by ten close to the basket.
Senior
Nicole Mitchell continued to play well, notching her third double-double in the last five games after grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds to go with 10 points. CNU also got nine points and six boards from junior
Camry Green, whose action was limited due to foul trouble.
The CNU offense had a stellar night, spreading the ball around between nine players in the scorebook, shooting 50% from the field on 52 attempts. In the second half, CNU took just 18 shots, but knocked down 10 for a 55.6% clip.
Defensively, CNU had 11 steals, led by five from Mitchell, and seven blocked shots between six different players. CNU led from wire-to-wire for the ninth time this season, building the lead to as many as 22 points in the game.
Salisbury got double figures from two players, as juniors Sarah Seipp had 16 and Anna Hackett added 14. Hackett had 31 points in the first matchup between the two teams, and nine points in the first half on Wednesday night, but managed just five points after the intermission as the CNU defense locked down.
CNU, who averages 28.1 points per game off of turnovers, turned in another fine performance in that category, pouring in 26 against the Sea Gulls.
The Captains will round out a long week of basketball this Saturday, playing in their fourth game in eight days as they travel to Wesley College. Tip is set for 1:00 pm in Dover, Delaware, as CNU looks for their 14
th straight victory.
