NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Following a strong 2013 campaign, which featured the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will look to carry that success over into 2014 as CNU prepares for its season-opening bout with Washington & Lee on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Captains Turf Field.
Really familiar with each other, the Captains and Generals have squared off in the season opener during each of the last two seasons. Washington & Lee won the previous match-ups, including a slim 12-9 decision in Lexington last year. Overall, CNU is 4-4 all-time in season openers.

Selected third in the ODAC Preseason Poll, Washington & Lee enters Saturday with a 1-0 record after toppling Ferrum, 16-4, on February 11.
