LEXINGTON, Va. – Making its season debut on Saturday, the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will kick off its 2013 campaign with a 3 p.m. battle against Washington & Lee at Wilson Field. The Captains are hoping to make a successful debut, while the Generals enter the game with a 1-0 mark after downing Ferrum, 23-4, on Tuesday.

Year in and year out,
Ari Elgort has been a mainstay at the forefront of the Captains. Already the program's all-time leader in face-offs won, he ranked 30th in the nation with a .622 win percentage last season. Fellow senior
Andy McGregor also returns after ranking among the top-100 nationally in save percentage and goals-against-average while anchoring the team's defensive efforts last year.
Bolstering the team's offensive attack, senior
Kyle Pasta ranked second on the team last season with 22 goals and 28 points.
John Thompson also had 13 goals and 10 assists, while
Billy Crist ranked fifth on the team with 17 points.
Exceptionally well-rounded, Washington & Lee had five players score at least three goals during the team's season debut on Tuesday. Sean Gebhard led the onslaught with four scores, while Cameron Dabir, Will Douthat, and Jack Reuter all had three apiece. Warren Berenis anchored the defense, posting three saves while allowing just two goals in over 40 minutes of action.
