STAUNTON, Va. -- Christopher Newport junior Emma O'Reilly punctuated her stellar season in a big way on Wednesday, leading the Captains to an 8-0 win over Mary Baldwin College in the regular season finale. O'Reilly scored the game's first three goals for her second hat trick of the season and led CNU to a third place regular season finish, locking up a conference tournament home game.

CNU, which improved to 10-8 overall and 8-3 in conference play, will host sixth-seeded Greensboro College (7-10,  6-5) this Saturday in the USA South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals, with kickoff set for 4:30 pm at Captains Field.

O'Reilly's monster game capped a tremendous regular season in which she has scored 16 goals, tied for the third best in program history. She has now scored 35 career goals, tying All-American Emily Renkin ('07) for second all-time at CNU and trailing Sam Ciaravino ('11) by just two goals for the all-time mark.

Her second hat trick came in impressive fashion, scoring CNU's first three goals, all in the first six minutes. She notched the eventual gamewinner just 1:32 into the game off an assist by rookie Shaydah Naraghi. She would then add two more over the next 4:21 of game time, the fastest three consecutive goals by the same player in CNU history and among the best marks nationally.

Junior Carly Utterback assisted on the second and third of O'Reilly's goals, breaking the CNU single season assists mark in the process. She has 11 helpers this year, besting the previous mark of ten held by Amy Petko ('02) and Ashleigh Dota ('06).

CNU would go on to score four more goals in the first half, and added one in the second frame. Dani Gunderson, Erin O'Shaughnessy, Bupe Okeowo, Jackie Bond and Joy Piirto all picked up goals for CNU after the hat trick. Bond added an assist to finish with three points in the game.
