ASHLAND, Va. – The Christopher Newport University men's lacrosse team fell to Randolph-Macon College today, 12-11, despite a hat trick by  junior John Glaser. The loss drops the Captains to 3-2 this year and improves the Yellow Jackets to 6-1.

Randolph-Macon jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first few minutes of action before Chase Walton scored off a pass from Glaser. The Yellow Jackets answered with two more goals to take a 4-1 lead. The final three minutes of the first period saw four goals with three coming from the Captains to pull within one.

CNU tied it up at five apiece just 20 seconds into the second period with a goal from Kyle Pasta assisted by Aaron Chrzaszcz. But Randolph-Macon went on a five goal run to end the first half with a 10-5 lead.

The third period belonged to the Captains as they scored four unanswered goals to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to just one goal. Randolph-Macon extended their lead with the first two goals of the fourth period going up 12-9 with 6:48 left on the clock.

Glaser scored his third goal of the game at 4:20 to bring the Captains within two and Gleisner scored his second of the game with 28 seconds left on the clock to finish the game at 12-11.

The Captains outshot the Yellow Jackets 42 to 37 and also led in ground balls with 42 to Randolph-Macon's 35. The Captains won 18 of the 24 face-offs.

Teddy Pekalski had a team-high 11 ground balls and Steven West led the Captains with three caused turnovers. Andy McGregor made 11 saves in 60 minutes of play.

The Captains return to action as they host Kenyon College on Saturday, March 19, at 1:00pm.
