GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Christopher Newport University (24-3) and Greensboro College (26-1) have combined to win the last seven USA South Championships and in 2011, one of the two will be crowned again. CNU and Greensboro are set to face off in the 2011 USA South Championship Game on Sunday, February 27 at 2:00 pm.

The game will be the third time the two teams have matched up this season, with both team winning on their home floor. A change in tournament format this season awards the higher seed home court advantage, so the Captains will play Greensboro on their home court Sunday afternoon.

CNU was the only team to stop Greensboro this season, as the Captains handed the Pride their lone loss of the season in the final regular season game of the year. That game was played just a week ago in Newport News as CNU pulled away with a 61-48 win. Earlier in the season, Greensboro defended its home floor with a 65-61 win against the Captains, snapping a 27-game win streak against league opponents for CNU.

For the last seven years it has been either Christopher Newport or Greensboro to win the tournament title, with CNU boasting four titles and Greensboro three since the 2003-04 season. This will just be the fourth time the two teams have matched up in the finals, but the third in the last four years. The winner of Sunday's championship game will earn the USA South Athletic Conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

CNU is led by the nation's leading scorer and USA South Player of the Year Chelsie Schweers. Schweers is averaging 25.3 points per game and scored 31 against Ferrum in the semifinals. Her performance was supported by Barbara Davis, who scored a season-high 18 and added 13 rebounds, seven steals and four blocked shots against one of the most potent offenses in the league. In last week's win over the Pride, both Schweers and Davis fell just shy of a double-double, with Schweers scoring 21 points with 8 rebounds and Davis adding 9 points with 11 rebounds.

Greensboro is a balanced team with veteran talent and experience. All-Conference players Danielle Duncan and Nikki Wilborn lead the way and provide a versatile offense for the Pride. In the first game against the Captains, the Pride knocked down an uncharacteristic 10 three-pointers to get past CNU. The offense runs through Duncan, who averages 21.3 points and grabs over nine rebounds per game. Wilborn is the shooter and has played a solid all-around game in her final season, averaging 14.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while dishing four assists per game also.

Admission will be charged at Hanes Gymnasium, $6 for adults and $3 for seniors, children, students and faculty/staff. Live stats will be available through the Greensboro Athletics website and a live video webcast can be seen at Captains Sports Live on CNUsports.com
