Women's Soccer Travels to N.C. Wesleyan

Captains look to bounce back for win

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Christopher Newport women's soccer team travels to N.C. Wesleyan today, for a 4:00 pm kickoff against the Battling Bishops. CNU (7-7-1, 5-1-1) is coming off a 3-0 setback against nationally ranked Lynchburg in the non-conference finale and will be playing an N.C. Wesleyan squad that has posted a 2-15 overall record, 2-6 in USA South play.

Three players lead the way offensively for CNU, scoring 11 points so far this season. Senior Kendall Dishaw and sophomore Emma O'Reilly each have scored five goals and one assist, while junior Dani Gunderson has added three goals and five assists. The Bishops have been led by Rebecca Staylor with 22 points on nine goals and four assists, but the defense has struggled, allowing 87 goals for a 5.12 goals against average this season.
